The Smoant Pasito II 80W by Smoant was an upgraded version from the original Pasito pod system, which has been reviewed months ago. The Pasito 2 retains some of the features of the original pod mod, but has a bigger, bulkier frame, mostly because of the significantly larger battery. Let’s see how the Smoant Pasito 2 compares to the original.

Pasito II Design & Quality

Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed about the Pasito 2 is its size. It’s not the largest pod/AIO device on the market, but at 117*38*27mm, and weighing in at approximately 200g, it’s certainly a hefty device.

The device is constructed from a zinc alloy and is adorned with faux leather panels, lending it a sturdy and premium feel. The cuboid design means that the Pasito II isn’t the comfiest to hold, and this isn’t helped by the weight and size of the device.

Upon the front of the device, you’ll find two menu/adjustment buttons, a 0.96” colour TFT display, and a medium sized firing button. The buttons are all responsive and produce a satisfying click, and the TFT display is bright and clear. The menu is simple, and I had no difficulties adjusting between modes.

Pasito II Pod

Atop the device is the “XL” 6ml pod. There’s a sizable portion of the pod that is translucent, allowing you to easily see the juice level within. The construction of the pod itself is good, and it doesn’t feel like it will crack or snap if dropped.

You can use your own 510 drip tip with the pod, should you wish. The bung that seals the small fill port seems sturdy enough, and I have no worries that it will tear or rip imminently.

The pod snaps securely into place, with no wiggle or movement once installed. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for the 510 adapter pod, which has a fair bit of movement to it.

To change coils within the XL pod, you unplug the base of the pod, and unscrew an old/screw in a new coil, then plug the base back into the pod. This means that you need an empty pod to change coils, or you risk the contents of the pod spilling out.

On the top of the pod itself is the rather rudimentary AFC; a small rectangular air intake that is covered or exposed by a sliding panel. It’s a simple design but works well to taper down the air intake to your desired level.

However, the sharp angles that the air has to navigate to reach the coil, once inside the pod, causes a fair bit of turbulence and noise.

Smoant Pasito II 80W Battery

The Smoant Pasito II 80W is powered by an internal 2500mAh battery and supports 2A charging via the USB-C port. The USB-C port is located on the bottom of the device, which is irritating, as I feel that you should always be able to charge a device whilst it is upright.

The first Pasito was one of the most innovative pod mods of its time, but things tend to move very fast in this industry, and the difference between the Smoant’s original pod mod and the second version is proof of that. While the Pasito didn’t even have a display, let alone a feature menu, the Pasito 2 has a color display and a full-blown menu system.

To turn on the Smoant Pasito II 80W, simply press the fire button five times in rapid succession. The home screen is a bit busy for its size, but you’ll get used to it after a while. To change the wattage or temperature depending on what mode you are in, just use the + and – toggle, but if you want to change the vape mode, you have to go into the menu. To do that, just press the fire button in rapid succession.

The menu is rather simplistic, which is to be expected for this kind of vaping device, but you do have an impressive number of vape mods available, from the classic variable wattage mode, and temperature control for three supported materials (titanium, nickel, and stainless steel), to TCR, DWV (custom curve) and Bypass modes. That’s quite impressive, considering many advanced vape mods don’t have all of these.

One of the biggest improvements Smoant has made on the Pasito 2 is the battery capacity. The original Pasito featured a decent 1.100mAh battery, but the newest version has a whopping 2,500mAh battery that puts the first one to shame in terms of battery life. Granted, the Pasito 2 is taller, bulkier, and heavier than its predecessor, so it’s a matter of compromise and what matters more to the user.

Another important aspect is the integration of USB Type-C, which we’ve seen used on the Knight80 pod mod and the original Pasito as well. The charge rate is advertised as 2A, and from my experience, the mod will recharge back to full in just under two hours when the battery is (technically) completely depleted.

Smoant Pasito II 80W Performance

There’s a number of coils available for the Smoant Pasito II 80W, including the Knight 80 line of coils. You also have the ability to use an RBA, and a 510 adapter. Here are my thoughts on everything I received:

  • K-1 0.3Ω mesh coil – This coil has a recommended wattage range of 50-65W, and I ran it at 55W with a rather sweet 80/20 liquid. I left the air intake wide open throughout use. Flavour was good, but the vape was a little less saturated than I’d like. A slightly restricted DL vape is provided with the air intake left open. Some fruity notes of the liquid were absent, however, the koolada within the liquid was heavily accentuated. Battery life with this coil was average, and I found myself recharging at least twice per day, under heavy use. The coil managed approximately 35ml of liquid before flavour dropped off.
  • K-3 Half-DTL 0.6Ω mesh coil – This coil has a recommended wattage range of 20-25W, and I ran it at 25W with the same 80/20 liquid used previously. Again, I left the air intake wide open. Flavour was good, and the vape seemed more saturated than with the previous coil. With the air intake open, this coil provides a medium restriction DL vape. The profiles of my liquid were much more balanced with this coil, and the koolada wasn’t overpowering. Battery life with this coil was far better, and I could easily manage a full day of use before needing to recharge. This coil managed approximately 25ml of liquid before flavour began to diminish.

Pros:

  • Good build quality.
  • Intuitive menu and operation.
  • The good flavour from all configurations.
  • USB-C fast charging.
  • Decent battery capacity.

Cons:

  • The design is a little chunky and uncomfortable to hold.
  • 510 adapter feels unsubstantial.
  • No easy coil-change system.

Final Verdict:

  • Design – 8.8/10
  • Flavor – 9/10
  • Vapor Production – 9/10
  • Quality – 8.5/10
  • Ease of Use – 8.5/10
  • Value for Money – 9/10

8.8/10

Summary

Overall, I feel that the Smoant Pasito II 80W is a welcome addition to the densely populated world of pod mods/AIO’s. I feel like the device could have been made a little sleeker and more comfortable to hold, but it feels reassuringly well built. Coil life and flavour production are good, but a more user friendly coil changing system would have been appreciated.
